Colts Neck
If
you ever wanted to live in a place where you could take a scenic drive
as soon as you pulled out of your driveway—complete with horse
pastures, orchards, and large homesteads—you may need to look no
farther than Colt’s Neck, New Jersey. Nestled in the center of Monmouth County, Colt’s Neck Township is
small, with about 31 square miles, and is one of the most sought-after
places in the area to live. Much of the land there is part of Naval
Weapons Reserve Station Earle. To
keep the natural beauty of Colt’s Neck pristine, the township has
instituted a Farmland Preservation Committee, which is responsible for
preserving almost 1,000 acres. The committee and other ordinances have
helped Colts Neck stay natural and upscale as well by preventing urban
encroachment and the problems that come with it. In fact, there is a
zoning regulation that allows homebuilding only on lots at least an
acre in size.
Colts Neck Recreation and Entertainment
Because Colts Neck is so close to New York City,
nightlife and culture are only a short drive away. You can go to the
city, have dinner and see a Broadway play, and be back in the same
night. You are also in close proximity to the rich historical and
artistic heritage of Philadelphia and its neighbors. Dinner anyone? There are many nice restaurants in Colts neck, and one of the favorites is a place called Huddy’s Inn.
It’s decorated with items and styles from the revolutionary war, and is
said to serve some of the best food for many miles. However, the
patriot Joshua Huddy actually owned the lot that the Colts Neck Inn
rests on, which is yet another of the famously excellent restaurants in
the area.
If you’re in the mood for something more active, you can try water
sports, fishing, golf at one of the many fine local clubs (such as
Hominy Hill Golf Course), or a day at the Dorbrook Recreation Area.
This 535-acre site has playgrounds for the young ones, swimming pools,
inline skating rink, and athletic fields.
Colts Neck Real Estate
This
area is home to some of the most expensive and upscale properties in
the area. Current prices range from around $400K to $6M, and all
properties are built on a minimum size of one acre lots. There is a
good variety of home style to choose from, but if you are looking for
classic suburban tract style homes you should probably look elsewhere.
Colts Neck was designed and planned to prevent urban sprawl and
overpopulation, so what you will find here is quite neighborhoods with
large farm properties and horse farms, as well as huge protected areas
that help keep Colts Neck pristine.
Because of the high prices and exclusive neighborhoods, if you are
considering Colts Neck for your next home you should definitely employ
a realtor to help you. You can save a lot of time and headache by
hiring a professional Colts Neck real estate agent who knows all the
ins and outs of the neighborhoods and homes.
